La Tribu began as a passion project. In 2015, we, as parents, faced a dilemma: how do we choose between Montessori education and Spanish immersion for our children? We wanted to have both of the best worlds and through our research, we discovered that the Montessori method was actually highly compatible with a language program and provided an incredible context in which to implement an immersion system.

After four years of creating our own curriculum, researching different experiences and learning from the best, we developed a very unique pedagogy of our own. Our system combines Montessori general philosophy towards childhood development with several other key components: academics and socio-emotional management; Walford concepts that establish daily rhythms in our classrooms; a mindfulness program; and a strong Spanish immersion program that consists of our original cultural curriculum. While we are incredibly proud of what we have created, we know that there is always room for more and we are eager to pursue new horizons!

La Tribu Rural is now open and enrolling. This new school will maintain everything we established in the formation of La Tribu Preschool and incorporate the values of nature exploration and sustainability. We are happy to announce that we are the new owners of a 1.5 acre campus on 9000 Manchaca Road, where we will develop a rural-inspired school: La Tribu Rural.

We are committed to continue all our priorities - such as developing community, empathy, independence, high academic standards and strong socio-emotional connections - within our Tribe of students and their parents. Come along with us on the next chapter of our journey!

Our Programs

We combine a Montessori-inspired curriculum, a Spanish immersion experience through cultural exploration and a focus on interacting with nature and taking care of our environment.

Young Children’s Community

18 month - 3 years old

The main focus in our classrooms is to provide children with endless opportunities to move, move and continue moving. Toilet Learning is one of the greatest conquests for this age group, along with language development (both in English and Spanish).

Children’s House

3 - 6 years old

As soon as children are independent going potty and ready developmentally, they can start at the “Children’s House” classroom. In this age group, children will refine fine and gross motor skills, their vocabulary will expand immensely and their focus will turn into socialization.

The Campus

Situated in our beloved South Austin, our campus boasts almost two acres of beautiful trees and plenty of space to run around. We cater Young Children Community (18 mo-3yo) and Children’s House Classroom (3 - 6yo) learners.

For immersion purposes and to get the full benefits of the Montessori curriculum, we recommend enrolling on a full time basis. However, you may also choose from our 3 or 4 times a week program options. We will make our best effort to accommodate the scheduling needs of our families.

Building Community: Parents Enrichment Program

Community garden days, parent education classes, a Book Club, and a PTA, are some of the ways that we bring our “Tribu” together.

La Tribu is proud to be the first and only Montessori Spanish Immersion preschool in Austin. As part of our mission, we want to provide tools and resources to educate and strengthen our community. This is why we created our Parent Enrichment Program (PEP), a parent-only space designed to  learn and share important information about the main topics we work with at school: positive discipline, language acquisition, potty training, Montessori philosophy, and so forth.

“La Tribu is a great place for a child to learn and be a part of something special. In our experience, the "Tribu" is real.”
